The unseen house pest—Bed Bugs!

Bed bugs, which survive solely on blood, can be found in both clean and unclean homes and hotel rooms. It’s not a sign of filth to have them in your house.

Bed bugs typically bite people while they are sleeping and are most active at night. They eat by puncturing the skin and sucking blood out of a long beak. The bugs gorge themselves on food for three to ten minutes before scuttling off unnoticed.

The majority of bed bug bites initially cause no pain but eventually develop into itchy welts. Any exposed area of skin while sleeping is affected by bed bug bites. Unlike flea bites, which have a red spot in the center, this bite does not.

“If homeowners think there may be bed bugs, they should contact Protech Professionals for the most effective bed bug treatment. Bed bugs may enter your home undetected through luggage, clothing, used beds and couches, and other items. A good bed bug exterminator should offer an inspection for Bed Bug Infestation and then provide options for treatment such as heat, freeze, and chemical.”

Shane Loftiss, Strategic Account Manager, Protech Professionals

Through luggage, clothing, used beds and couches, and other items, bed bugs may sneak into your house undetected. Unlike ants and bees, these bugs prefer to live in groups in secret locations rather than in nests. Typically, mattresses, box springs, bed frames, and headboards are where they first hide so they can easily bite people at night. They can fit into tiny spaces, about the width of a credit card, thanks to their flattened bodies.

However, over time, they might disperse throughout the bedroom and settle in a safe spot or crevice. Additionally, they might spread to nearby apartments or rooms.
